F. Scott de la Garza

Mr. de la Garza, a founding partner of DLG Luce, focuses his practice primarily in civil litigation including business litigation and personal injury law. Prior to founding DLG Luce, Mr. de la Garza practiced with a well-respected litigation firm in Austin, Texas handling similar matters.

Mr. de la Garza has dedicated his legal career to practicing law and litigating throughout Texas and central Texas, including both the Austin and San Antonio local courts. In doing so, he has gained invaluable courtroom experience in both civil and criminal litigation. Mr. de la Garza has tried many cases to verdict in his career, including cases in Bexar County Court, Travis County Court, Travis County District Court and Williamson County District Court.

Mr. de la Garza earned his law degree (Juris Doctorate) from St. Mary’s University School of Law and his Bachelors of Arts Degree in Government from the University of Texas in Austin.

While in law school, Mr. de la Garza worked as a teachers assistant for the now former St. Mary’s School of Law Dean Charles Cantu, served as a student mentor and was a brief writer and oralist in the world renowned Jessup International Moot Court Competition.

Mr. de la Garza studied international politics at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid in Madrid, Spain and he continued his legal education by participating in international trade related coursework at the Amsterdam Law School in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Mr. de la Garza is licensed to practice law by the Supreme Court of Texas, The United States Court of International Trade and the United States Federal Court – Western District.

In 2011, Mr. de la Garza was admitted into the Million Dollar Advocates Forum.

In 2014, Mr. de la Garza was selected as a 2015 member of the Austin Bar Leadership Academy, an academy with a focus on assisting Austin area lawyers to make a difference in the community and promotion of professional developement.

In 2014 and 2015, Mr. de la Garza was awarded the Capitol Area Trial Lawyers Association ‘Warrior Award’ given to lawyers who have tried a case to verdict in the year the honor is awarded.

In 2016, 2017 and 2018, Mr. de la Garza was chosen as a Super Lawyer Rising Star, an honor limited to only 2.5% of attorneys in Texas. Super Lawyers recognition is a Thomson Rueters Service.

Mr. de la Garza is the founder of the F. Scott de la Garza, DLG Luce Salazar PLLC Antonian College Preparatory Academic Scholarship, which provides financial assistance to deserving students to obtain a high level private college preparatory education.
