DLG Luce San Antonio – SA Congressional Delegation Seeks to Fast Track New Federal Courthouse in San Antonio
According to an article recently published in the San Antonio Business Journal, a bipartisan group of Congressional members from the San Antonio delegation have filed a bill in the US Congress to provide emergency funding for the construction of a new Federal Courthouse for the United States District Court for the Western District in San Antonio.
The San Antonio area delegation, which includes Republicans Lamar Smith and Will Hurd, in addition to Democratic Congressman Henry Cuellar, Lloyd Doggett and Joaquin Castro, have filed HR 3612.
According to a quote from Congressman Cuellar, emergency appropriations for the new courthouse are warranted because the current structure has ‘numerous problems.’ Some of the problems even include water and air quality issues that have recently been reported on.
The bill would have the new courthouse built on the the same city property that once housed the San Antonio Police Department.
