According to an article in the San Antonio Express News, more than $2 million has been spent since the beginning of January in the special election to fill Leticia Van de Putte’s Texas Senate seat, who is running for Mayor of San Antonio. 

According to the article, Trey Martinez-Fischer has spent more than $1.2 million, while Jose Menendez has spent more than $500,000.00. Interestingly, an Austin based lobbying group, Texans for Lawsuit reform, has spent more than $558,000.00 in attack ads targeted at attorney Martinez-Fischer. 

The runoff election will be held of February 17th and early voting has already begun.
