As recently reported in the San Antonio Express News, the City of San Antonio stands to gain approximately $20 million from online travel booking companies that failed to pay all of the hotel occupancy taxes they owed according to new legal documents filed in the court.

According to the filings, 173 Texas cities will share $55 million as a result of the lawsuit originally filed in Federal Court, which was decided in October 2009.

At trial, the Texas jury deliberated for two days before returning a verdict that found 11 companies liable for underpaying taxes.
