As recently reported in the San Antonio Express News, jurors returned two guilty verdicts Friday evening in the Bexar County Texas trial of a former hair salon manager accused of embezzling more than $1 million from her employers.

Kathleen Kavooras Pierce, 49, now faces anywhere from probation to life in prison for the theft and misapplication of fiduciary property convictions.

The presiding Judge in the matter, State District Judge Ron Rangelis scheduled to decide her sentence in March. 

According to the San Antonio Express News article, business owners Judy and Boyd Newby said they were planning to turn their business over to Pierce, a longtime employee and friend, but had not yet done so when discrepancies were found in 2004. They had allowed Pierce to run the day-to-day operations the previous four years, they said. In this time period, more than one million was transferred from business accounts into bank accounts associated with the defendant.
