DLG Luce – Austin – Texas Lottery Winner Willis Willis Back in Court.

According to the Austin Legal blog on the Austin American Statesman’s website, a Texas man who was cheated of a $1,000,000.00 lottery win is back in Court on his request for Texas Lottery officals and others to answer questions under oath about his stolen prize. Texas State District Judge Suzanne Covington of Austin Travis County sent the case to an appellate level Court.

Willis’ attorneys filed a petition in Travis County which sought to take depositions of lottery officials as well as the owners of the store where the winning ticket was bought.

According to the article, an attorney for the Texas Lottery Commission argued that since a Texas Lottery ticket is a ‘bearer instrument,’ Texas lottery officiaas are not responsible for stolen tickets.
