As recently reported in the Austin American Statesman, the Texas Legislature has cut funding for the popular and nationally recognized Texas Courthouse funding program. The Texas Senate had proposed a $20 million budget, while the Texas House had proposed a $10 million dollar budget. The final budget is $4.2 million. 

The program was established in 1999 and since then 63 of Texas’ 254 counties have used money from the program to assist in restoring their courthouse. 

The Travis County Courthouse in Austin has not been restored under the program.
