As recently reported by KXAN News of Austin, Texas Governor Rick Perry recently appointed Nathan Hecht as the new Chief Justice of the Texas Supreme Court. 

Hecht, a Republican, replaces Wallace Jefferson of the wholly Republican Supreme Court. Wallce will step down in October. 

Interestly, the appointment comes while Hecht is still fighting an Ethics charge against him stemming from 2008. Then, the Texas Ethics Commision determined that Hecht broke campaign finance laws stemming from his support of from Bush US Supreme Court nominee Harriet Miers.
