As recently reported in the Austin American Statesman, a legal battle is ensuing centered around Berkshire Hathaway Automotive’s desire to open its first car dealership in the Austin area, a Mercedes-Benz franchise to be located on an Interstate 35 frontage road.

As noted in the article, the plans to open the dealership were recently put on hold, following the ruling of an administrative law judge to provide time for a larger issue to be cleared up regarding Berkshire Hathaway Automotive’s potential ineligibility to own any car dealerships in the state.

While the dealership notably has the support of Mercedes-Benz USA, which wants a second retail location in Austin, it appears the legal matters will need to be addressed before the location breaks ground.
