DLG Luce – Austin – Former UT Quarterback Vince Young Hit With Civil Lawsuit
Former University of Texas quarterback, Vince Young is being sued by Tiffany Cayo who claims he assaulted her in a car following a NCAA Tournament game in 2014. TMZ Sports reported that Young was “extremely intoxicated” when he reached over and pulled her hair. The lawsuit does not specify whether Young was driving at the time, however Cayo claims that she incurred medical expenses and lost wages due to the incident and is seeking $250,000 in damages.
Young’s lawyers say the suit has no merit and that Cayo has simply brought this suit to extract easy money from Young.
In a statement sent to the Austin American Statesman, Young’s lawyers said Cayo made these allegations privately a year ago at which time they interviewed witnesses and determined the allegations had no merit.
“Mr. Young’s counsel presented the results of the investigation to Ms. Cayo’s counsel in early 2015,” Young’s attorney said in a statement to the Austin American-Statesman. “Now, two years after this alleged incident and over a year after being informed that there was clear and unequivocal witness testimony contradicting Ms. Cayo’s allegations, Ms. Cayo and her counsel have brought this frivolous lawsuit in a clear attempt to extract money from Mr. Young.”
Young’s attorney said the former quarterback who now works as a diversity and community engagement officer for the University of Texas, will file a defamation suit against Cayo.
Young has had a tough 2016 as he was arrested in January of this year for a DWI which resulted in losing his job as a ESPN commentator for the Longhorn Network.
