As recently reported in the Austin American Statesman, former Triton Financial Executive Kurt Barton was sentenced this week in an Austin Court to 17 years in prison for his involvement orchestrating a $75 million dollar Ponzi scheme.

Many who invested money with Barton were upset that the sentence wasn’t long enough. According to the article, only about 20 million of the 75 million invested was used for its intended purpose. 

Before he was sentenced by Austin Federal Judge Samuel Sparks, Barton stood sobbing and professed before the Court that he did not intend for any ‘of this’ to happen. 

When sentencing Barton, Judge Sparks noted, ‘you will still have time to live when you get out, but you will pay the price.
