As recently reported in the Austin American Statesman, a Texas Federal Judge in Lubbock, Texas dismissed a legal challenge to overturn a Texas law which prohibits 18-20 year olds from carrying a concealed weapon. 

In his ruling dismissing the case, United States District Court Judge Sam Cummings ruled that ‘Texas has identified a legitimate state interest – public safety – and passed legislation that is rationally related to adressing that issue.’

The Court’s ruling has been seen as a win for Texas gun control advocates. In his ruling, Judge Cummings ruled that the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution does not confer a right that extends beyond the home.
