DLG Luce – San Antonio – Potential New Downtown Baseball Stadium

San Antonio is currently in negotiations for the construction of a new baseball stadium in the downtown area. A new stadium would cost $75 million and the public would have to vote in order for the building take place. In the meanwhile, the Colorado Springs Sky Sox of the Pacific Coast League, the Triple-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers are patiently waiting for this negotiation to come through as they are interested in making San Antonio their new home.

In April 2016 San Antonio Mayor Ivy Taylor and David Elmore with Elmore Sports Group, who owns the San Antonio Missions, announced this news in a press conference with hopes of beginning to gain public interest for the vote.
Brailsford and Dunlavey, a consulting firm which specializes in stadium research, is finalizing a study and analysis of a potential Downtown stadium.
Centro San Antonio has conducted a site study to help determine potential locations for a stadium. Although nothing has been confirmed it is rumored that locations being considered are the northwest corner of Hemisfair, at South Alamo and Market streets, and sites near Lone Star and the Pearl.

So far the public response on social media has been mostly negative with some preferring to hold out hope for a possible Major League Baseball expansion.
