As recently reported in the New York Times, in a Texas legal matter that has been drawing national headlines for months since its enactment, The United States Supreme Court issued a ruling on Tuesday that will allow more than one dozen Texas abortion clinics to reopen. 

The ruling by the United State Supreme Court blocks a recently passed Texas state law that has imposed strict requirements on abortion providers. If the law remained in effect only eight abortion clinics would remain in the state of Texas and many women would have been forced to drive more than 150 milles to go to a clinic according to the article. 

Interestingly, the Supreme Court Order was only five sentences long and had no explanation of the justices’ reasoning. The article further notes that the issue is far from over, but comes as a welcome victory to abortion advocates.
