DLG Luce – San Antonio Area Judge Indicted on Felony Charge

As recently reported in the San Antonio Express News, former state District Court Judge E. Karl Prohl has been indicted for his actions concerning $34,706 he allegedly received from public coffers.

Judge Prohl, who was formerly a Judge in Kerr County (neighboring Bexar County with County Seat of Kerrville) retired in September 2009 after serving as Judge for 18 years.

The article quotes Judge Prohl’s attorney as stating that  ‘(Prohl’s) distressed about the publicity, but feels like he’ll be exonerated.’

According to the article, the Texas Attorney General spent months investigating the matter, which focused largely on 17 alleged payments to Prohl between 2004 and 2007 by Kerr County, two probation department’s and the district attorney’s office.
Prohl also stated “There’s a different side to it than what’s alleged in the indictment,” he said. “We look forward to a trial, if one becomes necessary, and we’re sorry that the attorney general felt that he needed to get an indictment.”
