As recently reported in the Houston Business Journal, there are indications that the legal scene in Houston is about to “slim down” as a result of challenges in the energy industry. 

Noted in the article is that in recent past years, many small law firms focused in energy “flooded” the Houston market, which also made recruiting for larger firms difficult. Now that many are viewing the challenges in the energy sector as “prolonged” the legal market seems to be slimming down in the Houston area. 

One quote in the article indicates that “firms heavily built around energy transactions will be seeing trouble.” Many of the troubles these firms have experienced have been attributed to the failure to build up a more diversified practice sphere.
