News broke today in the Austin American Statesman, that after years of attempts to secure a location for a much needed larger and more modern Courthouse in Travis County, the County has decided to move forward with the construction of a new Travis County Courthouse complex at 1700 Guadalupe Street. The new location will be about five blocks north of the current site.

Travis County’s current courthouse has been in use for 85 years, and is now significantly undersized and in need of improvement.

It is being reported that an opening goal on the new building is in the year 2023. More can be read in the Austin American Statesman here.
