Its a new year in Texas, and often times that means the implementation of new laws in our state. As it happens, both San Antonio and Austin have enacted similar cell phone restrictions while driving that went into effect on January 1, 2015.

Generally, the new laws written in local city ordinances make it illegal to use a portable electronic device while operating a vehicle.

A ‘hands-free’ device such as headphones or a bluetooth are permitted, so long as they comply with the newly enacted ordinances.

While the cities’ local law enforcement may give warnings in the early weeks of the new ordinances, it is best and safest to start to get used to driving without cell phone distractions.
