As recently reported in the Austin American Statesman, Calfornia based Legal Zoom has submitted a proposal to the Austin City Council to locate a Legal Zoom regional headquarters in Austin. In order to lure the legal services company to Austin, the Austin City Council is proposing an incentives agreement to pay Legal Zoom $20,000.00 a year for ten years. The payments would be tied to job creation targets. 

Legal Zoom currently has 400 employees and was established in the year 2000. The business was established by a team of lawyers, including the celebrity lawyer Robert Shapiro, as an online legal document service. According to figures provided by the business, Legal Zoom claims that more than 400,000 people have used the Legal Zoom business service to write wills, create legal document, fight claims in small claims court, in addition to other legal matters.
