As recently reported in the San Antonio Express News, a Laredo lawmaker filed a bill in the Texas Legislature that would allow patrons to purchase cocktails or beer from automatic vending machines, like a soda water. 

Surprisingly, according to the article, Texas is one of the few states that do not already allow such a machine. The machines have apparently been sold largely in New York, Ohio, Florida and Louisiana, but not so much in California and Nevada because of the states’ large bartender unions. 

According to the bill, only those 21 or over with a credit card that matches the name on their drivers license would be able to use the machines.
