As recently reported in the Austin Business Journal, the CIty of Austin recently demanded that Marriott pay more than $500,000.00 in developement fees that were waived under an incentive deal related to the new JW Marriott being built in downtown Austin. 

Correspondence cited by the Austin Business Journal notes that Austin Assistant City Attorney Anthony Snipes has requested that the hotel builder repay $688,242.49 in already waived developement fees. The request comes as a result of the City of Austin determining the developer to be in violation of the city’s intended prevailing wage policy.
