DLG Luce – Austin – Bus driver who refused to take women to Planned Parenthood gets $21K in settlement

As recently reported in the Austin American Statesman, the Capital Area Rural Transportation System has paid $21,000.00 to a bus driver previously employed in Austin who was fired for refusing to drive two women to a Planned Parenthood clinic.

As noted in the Austin American Statesman article, the plaintiff claims that the Capitol Area Rural Transportation Sytem, or CARTS, discrimininated against him based on his religion after he refused to take the women to Planned Parenthood. The settlement for the lawsuit, which was filed in DIstrict Court in Austin, was approved by the CARTS system.
