DLG Luce – Austin – Austin Board of Realtors Loses Legal Battle

As recently reported in the Austin American Statesman, a Travis County District Judge recently ordered the Austin Board of Realtors to include seven open seats on its board of directors in this month’s election, rather that the five seats the Board was arguing were open.

The article quotes the Plaintiff as referring to the ruling as a ‘huge win’ in what has been a public battle over the organization’s leadership.

As noted in the article, in granting the temporary injunction, Soifer ruled that the organization must “desist and refrain from issuing ballots for or otherwise holding the 2017 annual election.”

Also at issue as noted in the article is the degree of transparency the Austin Board of Realtors has maintained with its members regarding the topic of a possible merger with the San Antonio Board of realtors, quoted as “may be the biggest and most impactful decision ABoR has ever explored.” More can be read here.
