After the conclusion of yesterday's Texas statewide primaries, only one runoff race will occur in a statewide race. Two lawyers bidding to become a GOP nominee for the Texas Supreme Court will duke it out in a runoff later this year.
Attorney Rick Green, who was formerly a state legislator from Dripping Springs, ended up coming out first in votes, which came as a shock to many given that his five opponent's campaigns were better funded. Attorney Green will go up against Fort Worth attorney and state District Judge Debra Lehrmann. Interestingly, Green and Lehrmann were the only candidates in the race without appellate court judicial experience.
The runoff will take place on April 13.
